  • Dr. Elizabeth Miazga

    Dr. Elizabeth Miazga is a clinical fellow in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She completed medical school and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Toronto. She is currently pursuing a Master of Laws in health law at York University. Her research interests are in knowledge translation, health policy and education. The TOLAC bundle started as her “small” resident research project in 2017, but her passion for knowledge translation and education helped it grow into what you see today!

  • Dr. Eliane Shore

    Dr. Eliane Shore is a member of the division of the Minimally Invasive Gynaecologic Surgery Division at St. Michael’s Hospital and as Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her QI work involves both Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is the gynecology lead on the Operating Room Black Box project at St. Michael's Hospital and a member of the International Center for Surgical Safety at Li Ka Shing. She has recently conducted a multisite QI initiative related to increasing Trial of Labour After Caesarean Section rates.

  • Dr. Amanda Cipolla

    Dr. Amanda Cipolla is a generalist Community Obstetrician Gynecologist at Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital. After graduating from residency at the University of Toronto, she became interested in Quality Improvement (QI) and completed the Certificate Course through the Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the University of Toronto. She has worked to support and encourage a culture of QI both locally in the ObGyn department of Trillium Health Partners, as well as in the GTA by leading and encouraging efforts to safely reduce cesarean section rates. 

  • Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass

    Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass obtained her medical degree from the University of Ibadan and completed her OBGYN training in the UK and Canada, with special interest training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at King’s College. She has worked at North York General Hospital since 2004. She is involved in quality initiatives at the local and Provincial levels, and was the Co-chair for the quality standard on increasing access to VBAC and an expert panel member for early pregnancy complications and loss. She is the co-founder of Women’s health Education Made Simple (WHEMS) an online educational resource.

  • Dr. Jodi Shapiro

    Dr. Jodi Shapiro is currently Head of the General Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital. She completed medical school and her residency at The University of Toronto. Dr. Shapiro also has a Masters of Health Science in Biomedical Ethics. After developing an interest in Quality Improvement, she completed the Patient Safety, Error Science and Full Disclosure Certificate Program at The University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Shapiro serves as the Head of the Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and Patient Experience Program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai Hospital. 

  • Dr. Cheyanne Reed

    Dr. Cheyanne Reed is currently a PGY1 in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. She completed medical school at the University of Toronto and received a bachelor’s degree in medical sciences at Western University. In addition to quality improvement projects, she is a contributor to the social media initiative “The Pandemic Pregnancy Guide” on Instagram which focuses on providing comprehensive updates on how COVID-19 impacts obstetrical and newborn care. She is also passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine and sexual health education.


  • Dr. Alisha Olsthoorn

    Dr. Alisha Olsthoorn completed her residency in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Toronto and is now completing an advanced gynaecology surgery fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. She plans to practice as a generalist in obgyn with an interest in education.


  • Isabella Fan

    Isabella Fan is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Toronto. She developed an interest in quality improvement through the TOLAC project, and is an abstract winner at the 2021 Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference (ACSC). She is also a contributor to the social medica initiative "The Pandemic Pregnancy Guide" which provides evidence-based information to expecting families during COVID-19. She has an interest in women's health and surgery, and aspires to become an obstetrician-gynecologist.


  • Dr. Zi Ying (Eliya) Zhao

    Dr. Zi Ying (Eliya) Zhao completed her medical school at the University of Toronto and is currently completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Eliya is interested in clinical research and quality improvement and is so excited to be a part of this team!
